If you had a look at my previous posts, you will see that most of my posts are either about Drupal or Firefox. This post is not going to be an exception!
Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other social media crap are now popular and you can see it everywhere on the Internet. Do you seriously need these buttons to share their content ? Do you need to have a like button on every page you open ? Seriously ?
I was using Adblock Plus to block advertisements but it was not blocking these buttons.
I have been using it for several weeks now.. It works really nice, and it has blocked ~10,000 facebook and twitter crap(facebook share boxes, like buttons, tweet this buttons, follow me buttons, etc).
To add this filter, in Firefox, go to Tools > AdBlock Plus > Filter preferences. Then, click on add subscription button and clock on Add a different subscription, as you can see in the picture below.
Then, in the dialog box, Enter "Ayesh's list" (or whatever the name you want) as the title, and http://static.ayesh.me/ff/abp/adblock_plus_not_social_filters.txt as the URL.
Click Add subscription and you are ready to the battle with crap bundles!
If you find it useful, please leave a comment and let me know. If you have additional rules, just leave a comment and I will try to include it in the filters.
Adblock Plus will attempt to update filters time to time. So, you will get updates with new filters automatically! Enjoy!
